I am a filmmaker, journalist, published author, computer nerd, musician, photographer, fanatical hiker, a lover of cats and other critters, and much, much more. And I love cats. Yes, that much.
Since I was thirteen I have worked as a paperboy, studio/darkroom assistant, telemarketer, scaffolding laborer, avionic instruments technician (USAF), rock band sound & light tech/roadie, landscaper, stucco laborer, electrician, carpenter-handyman, fabrication laborer, security guard, computer tutor, housecleaner, bar/street prostitute, escort agency manager, call girl, data entry clerk, office assistant, bartender, programmer/analyst, journalist, dominatrix, publisher, working musician and unsigned recording artist, and most recently a TV/film producer.
Yeah, it’s been interesting. My current title is senior software engineer for a healthcare IT company that hired me in 1989. (Journalist, dominatrix, publisher, musician and so on after that were/are side gigs.)
I am also a recovered heroin addict and alcoholic since 1997. See my personal website for the condensed version of my life, or you can read the sobriety journal that I wrote in a Veterans Administration rehab in 1988 and slowly turned into a memoir titled Not Your Average American Girl. Finally, I am an enthusiastic hiker who can often be found trekking the many southern California Mountains.
Oh, and while I believe God/Goddess/Creator, I must say most emphatically, fuck any religion that oppresses women or LGBTQs…
In between my dayjob, writing and guitar playing, I indulge in hiking and photography whenever I can. If you enjoy either you might enjoy my hiking & photography Tumblr.
